Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Waterford, New York, will hold a Public Hearing at the Town Hall, 65 Broad Street, Waterford, New York, on September 3, 2024 at 6:55 P.M. in the evening to hear comments on a proposed Local Law, which would amend Town Code by adding the enclosed local law identified as Local Law No. 1 of 2024, entitled “A LOCAL LAW AMENDING LOCAL LAW NO. 2 OF 2006 TO MODIFY THE PARTIAL TAX EXEMPTION FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS, VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE WORKERS, AND UN-REMARRIED SPOUSES OF VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE WORKERS,”  The purpose of said proposed  local law is such that recent enactments to amend Real Property Tax Law 466-a, require a taxing jurisdiction to establish yearly eligibility requirements to receive the real property tax exemption for volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers.                       

Any resident of the Town of Waterford is entitled to be heard upon said proposed Local Law at such public hearing.  Copies of said proposed Local Law are available for review at the Town of Waterford Clerks’ Office.
