The Board of Assessment Review will be meeting by appointment on May 30th, 2024  at the Waterford Community/Senior Center, located at 125 Second Street (behind the Waterford Library and next to the Waterford Water Works).

If you would like to appear before the Board but do not have an appointment, please call the Assessor’s Office to set one up.

Grievance Procedures

If you feel your assessment exceeds the fair market value of your home, you have the right to a grievance. The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Thursday May 30th to hear grievances on real property assessment. In order to be heard by the board of assessment review, you must complete NYS RP-524 and file with the Town of Waterford Assessor’s Office (now located in the town court/board chamber) by May 20th. You may also mail in the paperwork to:

Town Assessor’s Office

65 Broad Street

Waterford, NY  12188

  • You may call the Assessor’s Office (518-235-9907) to set up an appointment for the beginning of May.  Meeting with the assessor is optional; you also have the choice of providing your documentation and letting it stand on its own, or simply appealing directly to the BAR.
  • At the same time, you can make an appointment to meet with the BAR;  alternatively, you can make that appointment after meeting with the assessor.
  • If you have submitted your RP-524 and supporting evidence, you do not have to meet with the BAR; they will review your paperwork in your absence and make a decision.
  • Please send all paperwork to the assessor’s office by May 20th. Paperwork received after the 20th could result in delays with the BAR. Paperwork received or postmarked after May 24th has missed the deadline and will not be processed.

You can check to Saratoga County website for the 2024 Tentative Assessment Roll or the New York State website for this booklet about grievance procedures.
